ABOUT US

In the late 1930's three men formed a "job shop", manufacturing components and dehumidifiers out of sheet metal. The company name was Daly, Merritt, and Sullivan and was located in Falls Church, Virginia. Predominant market usage then was dehumidification of storage areas containing weapons and munitions, and in ships assigned to the "mothball" fleets for the U.S. Government. Mr. Merritt, in 1944 formed Desomatic Products Company, remaining in Falls Church, Virginia which manufactured space dehumidifiers along with other components used by the military and federal government. As markets expanded eventually industrial dehumidification became a new market target. In 1959, a company predominant in the aerospace industry, Atlantic Research Corporation in Alexandria, Virginia, purchased Desomatic in an effort to diversify their company's interests and gain access to the industrial marketplace. The dryer and dehumidifier product lines became known as the Desomatic Division of Atlantic Research, later changed to the Mechanical Products Division. Further development produced deep bed dehumidifiers, capable of producing extremely low dew points for new applications in industrial, and government marketplaces. Already established government and aerospace contacts expanded dryer and dehumidifier business in those areas, and previous industrial experience led to general space dehumidification and the drying of many products in diversified industries, including many gases under high and low pressure. In 1969, "Desomatic Products" was sold to Fabrication Engineering Corporation (FECOR) and moved to York, Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, in 1970, the line of low-pressure dehumidifiers was purchased from FECOR by engineers formerly associated with Atlantic Research and familiar with government procurement. Again, space dehumidification was their goal. This new group was located in northern Virginia and the name NOVATEC (for Northern Virginia Technology) was established.

In 1973 NOVATEC was repurchased by FECOR in York, Pennsylvania; the name was changed to Farrier Industries, and a new corporate facility was constructed in Baltimore, Maryland. Executive offices and the manufacturing for three product lines were located in this plant. It was at this facility that knowledge was gained of a new market for NOVATEC dehumidifiers – the plastics processing industry. In 1977 the NOVATEC product line caught the eye of the major producer of industrial dryers and dehumidifiers, The C.M. Kemp Manufacturing Company. In September of that year a subsidiary of Kemp Company was formed and incorporated as NOVATEC. The established product line quickly became strengthened with new technology and leadership.

In June 1985, The C.M. Kemp Company merged with Monsanto Corporation and NOVATEC became an independent company. Novatec had manufactured pneumatic conveying system components since 1977 on an "OEM" basis for others, and in 1986 decided to enter this market on their own. This product line has become a major part of our growth and we have already gained acceptance as one of the major suppliers in the material conveying industry.

For years, we've been a leader in developing innovative solutions for drying, blending and conveying plastic resin.  But we're also new in a number of critically important ways--with an even stronger management team to bring you the  most advanced and energy-saving technologies in the industry, as well as customer service that's second to none.

In May 2006, the company's ownership changed hands in a move to build on NOVATEC's strength as a leader in the engineering of the total resin handling systems and a supplier of the industry's broadest range of resin dryers.

At the new NOVATEC we're building on our strengths by adding to our team of experienced professionals at every level of the organization--from executives, to design and engineering, to sales and marketing, to sales support and service.
