The Polymer Alliance Zone (PAZ) is a 501 ( c ) (3) economic development organization with seventy-five members. We are dedicated to recruiting new companies that add jobs and new investments to West Virginia. The Polymer Alliance Zone has a comprehensive strategy that works directly with its member companies to develop new partnerships and joint venture opportunities. PAZ was built on the principles of developing strong collaborative partnerships between the public and private sectors to support both new and existing polymer industry. PAZ also has led a unique recycling program and is the home of the Mid-Atlantic Recycling Center for End-of-Life Electronics (MARCEE Project). The Polymer Alliance Zone (PAZ), in coordination with Innovative Management and Technology Services, will be demonstrating a new online database application that showcases the capabilities of West Virginia’s polymer industry, member companies and the Polymer Alliance Zone in Booth 9616 at NPE 2006. The system, known as the Virtual Center for Polymer Excellence (VCPE), was officially launched in April 2006 and offers the public an online mechanism for searching over 140 polymer companies within WV and surrounding areas in regards to the plastic industry.

The VCE will serve as a dynamic “matching” engine that provides on-the-spot detailed polymer company information matching the specific search criteria within the areas of company location, products, services or raw materials. In addition, the VCPE will have an enhanced feature to manage more in-depth requests and questions. The requests will be sent directly to the PAZ Team who will then perform a more detailed and comprehensive look at the region’s polymer company to best fit the user’s needs.

The VCPE application was developed using the latest .NET technologies and supported by a SQL Server database engine that allows quick and efficient searches to be performed from anywhere in the world. Users can search for specific products, materials or services, create a detailed report of their information matches, and have their polymer questions answered in minutes. Tools such as these are helping to broaden the exposure to West Virginia and the regional polymer industry.
