SPI's Occupational Health and Environmental Issues Committee (OHEIC) addresses worker health and safety, environmental and product regulatory issues. OHEIC protects the industry, saves companies money, keeps members informed and connected and leverages member efforts. OHEIC monitors legislation and regulation, provides leadership and representation before government agencies and provides input on programs and proposed rules. Training and compliance assistance tools such as “An SPI Guide to Safety and Health for the Plastics Industry” help reduce costs while maintaining workplace safety. OHEIC monitors, reviews and provides information about regulatory and legislative activities from state to international levels that affect the plastics industry. OHEIC offers opportunities to network, exchange information and work on projects to benefit the industry, including guest speakers and member-to-member assistance forums. OHEIC provides support within SPI and works with external organizations.
