MIX MISER

Description:

Mix-Miser is an inexpensive feeder that provides a cost efficient way of introducing color concentrates and other free flowing additives into the production process directly at the throat of the press.

Operation:

The Mix-Miser is mounted onto a neckpiece installed directly under the production machine’s main material hopper. The feeder uses a feed screw to meter the additive into the primary material stream as it is passing through the neckpiece. The additive feed rate is set and controlled by a simple variable speed controller governing the speed of the motor that drives the feed screw. A number of interchangeable feed screw sizes are available to provide feed rates that range from a couple of ounces-per-hour to 46 pounds-per-hour.

MIXING STATIONS
8 Unit Mixing Station

The Plasticolor Mixing Station provides a way to take precise control of the materials being fed into your production machine. Up to eight single units simultaneously feed the virgin and component materials into the Neckpiece mounted on the throat of the injection molding machine or extruder.

Each material cascades into the Neckpiece on an individually controlled percentage basis .. guaranteeing an accurate, precise mix of the material components. Because the Neckpiece only contains a small amount of the precisely mixed materials, changes in the mix are available to the machine almost immediately.

When configured as a Flood Feed unit, the individual units are simultaneously started when the level of the material mix in the Neckpiece drops below the low level sensor in the Neckpiece and will continue to run until the material reaches the high level sensor. Since all of the component materials are consumed out of the Neckpiece, changes in the extruder speed or injection molding cycle times will have NO EFFECT on the material proportions or the accuracy of the mix in the Neckpiece.

When configured as a Starve Feed unit, the feeders can be slaved to the extruder’s tachometer to vary the feed rate in accordance with the extruder speed.

2 Unit Starve Feed Station

Features:

- Ideal for all size extruders and injection molding machines.
- Feed rate capacities from several pounds-per-hour to tens of thousands of pounds-per-hour.
- Controls the mix of up to thirteen materials into the production machine...in the right percentages, in the right mix. Ideal for precise control of virgin, regrind, color, and additive materials.
- Individual control of each material guarantees a precise mix, and fast, easy, on-line changes.
- Flood feed configuration utilizes sensors in the Neckpiece to simultaneously start and stop all feeders to provide a small, premixed amount of material for the production machine.

13 Unit Mixing Station

Description: The Plastore 13 Unit Rapid Color Change Station provides the ability stage several different colors and additives that are introduced into the production process directly at the throat of the production machinery. Each material is simultaneously fed, in the right percentages, into a narrow neckpiece where they fall together as a perfect mixture.

Basic operation: Free flowing virgin material is fed through the PC 3000 at feed rates up to 1,760 pounds per hour. Color or other free flowing additives are fed through the PC 2000's at feed rates of a couple of ounces per hour up to approximately 140 pounds per hour. The material feed rate is accurately controlled by variable speed AC motors driving the feed screws. Changes in the extruder speed or injection molding cycle times will have NO EFFECT on the material proportions or the accuracy of the mix in the Neckpiece.

Features:

New AC motors- our drive motors are totally enclosed with plug-in connectors to facilitate electrical connections. The motors are available in several RPM configurations.

Control Panel - our new control panel includes PLC and Touch Screen interface with recipe storage. Ethernet connectivity and remote control and monitoring software is available as options.

Optional Slide gates - stainless steel slide gates are designed to to close when the chosen feeders are turned off to avoid the risk of color or additive contamination.

Plasticolor 2000 GR

The Plasticolor 2000 GR is a single gravimetric feeder. The unit accurately feeds free flowing color and additives at the throat of extrusion, blow molding and injection molding machines.

The system incorporates a special algorithm that filters out vibrations and movement from mold clamping making it suitable for use on injection molding machines.

Plasticolor 2000 GR utilizes a stepper motor providing high resolution of speed control from 0.3 rpm to 225 rpm. Isolated 10/100 Ethernet makes possible the retrieval of production information. An integrated venturi loader is included with the system.

Gravibelt

Description: the Gravibelt is a single gravimetric beltfeeder. The unit accurately feeds free flowing color and additives at the throat of extrusion, blow molding and injection molding machines. The system incorporates a special algorithm that filters out vibrations and movement from mold clamping making it suitable for use on injection molding machines. The Gravibelt offers a wide dynamic feed range under one setup. With a feed rate from 1 oz to 80 lbs/hr for pellets and 0.5 oz to 30 lbs/hr for micro pellets. Isolated 10/100 Ethernet makes possible the retrieval of production information. An integrated venturi loader is included with the system.

Automatic Color Change System

Description: the Plastore Automatic Color Change System provides a simple and automated means for on-stream transitions between color recipes utilizing existing feeders and Mixing Stations. The system allows control and monitoring for two feeders, and provides a touch-screen interface for easy operator interaction. All interaction with the system is done using the touch screen interface. The touch screen senses capacitance, not pressure, so only a light touch with a finger or stylus is required.

Water Cooled Sleeve

The water cooled sleeve extends through the material stream and drops the additive in the center of the main material. The mixing takes place directly in the center of the neckpiece. By dropping the additive in the center of the neckpiece, our unit prevents the additive from adhering to the sides of the neckpiece. This configuration simplifies cleanout and additive changes.

Description: the Plastore 91-A Controller is an accurate, Easy-to-use device for controlling the feed rate of Plastore Single and Multi-Unit Mixing Station Additive Feeders.
Feed rate of the additive feeder is controlled by a 10-Turn potentiometer on the front panel of the controller. The control pot is marked with precision graduations for accurate, precise, repeatable settings ... eliminating the need for more complex programming approaches.
The convenient, front panel mounted Power Switch and Run/Stop/Overload LED Indicators display the operating status of the feeder. An optional built-in Digital Display can be set to display the feeders running speed in RPM or percent of running speed (0 to 100%).
The Tachometer feedback from the feeder’s motor into the 91-A Controller provides a closed loop feed rate control, guaranteeing accurate, consistent feed rate performance.

AUXILIARIES

Hopper Loader

The Plasticolor Hopper Loader automatically transfers material from a container into hopper of a Plasticolor feeder, eliminating the manual labor associated with keeping the hopper full of material to be fed.

The Plasticolor Loader is available installed on new Plasticolor Feeders, or as a kit for installation on existing Plasticolor Feeders or hoppers of other manufacturers.

How it works: The material transfer wand uses compressed air to generate a powerful vacuum that lifts material from a bulk container and transfers it to feeder hopper through a material transfer hose. The hopper-mounted loader uses a "cyclone" effect to separate the transferred material from the air stream, and deposit the material into the hopper. An automotive type air filter on the loader stops air-born dust from entering the plant. High/low level sensor in the hopper tell the Controller when to load material ... starting the feeder when material reaches the low level sensor, and stopping the loader when the hopper is full.

A combination of features that make the Plasticolor Hopper Loader unique:

- The high efficiency material transfer wand works well at air supply pressures as low as 40 psi.
- The high/low level sensors in the hopper provide a positive control of the material loading cycle ... always maintaining a safe level of material in the hopper. This dual level sensor approach eliminates the need for additional timers, or complex calibration procedures associated with a "single sensor" loader control approach.
- Unique "Clamp Ring" mounting of the hopper mounted loader allows the material inlet tube tpo be rotated 360, for desired inlet direction.
- Low profile design only adds 5 1/2" to the hopper height, for those "tight fit" applications.
- Universal mounting design can be used on almost any hopper.

Hopper Alarm

The optional Plastore Hopper alarm provides an audible and visual alarm when the material level in a hopper goes below the sensor.

Quick Drain

Quick drain will allow you to drain the Plasticolor hopper with minimal material loss and it facilitates fast material and screw changes. The Quick drain tube has a O.D of 2.5” so it can easily be extended using standard flexible tubing.

The Quick drain slide gate assembly fits all Plasticolor 2000 and 3000.
