S.F. Prep grads give single-use plastic bags the sack

June 24, 2008 - Green Bag Co. was started by Bill Clohessy, an Irishman who got the idea for reusable grocery bags after his native country banned single-use plastic bags. That was seven years ago, and single-use plastic bag usage in Ireland has dropped 90 percent. Green Bag Co. now has a large share of the reuseable bag business in both Australia and the United States, and it continues to grow in Europe, Canada and Japan.
