Polystyrene recycling has left the school building

July 15, 2008 - Eugene school officials have opted for a biodegradable paper plate. This year, an additional nine Portland schools will use washable plastic trays. If the department switches to a new product, it will have to consider price increases the following year. Dale Roberts, a Beaverton parent, circulated a petition that about 125 people signed last school year after learning her child's school used polystyrene trays.
