February 20, 2008 - In the case of certain chemical substances that are defined as polymers, the Agency has established a set of criteria to identify categories of polymers that should present minimal or no risk. The polymer contains less than 2% oligomeric material below MW 500 and less than 5% oligomeric material below MW 1,000. Generally, a polymer of this size would be poorly absorbed through the intact gastrointestinal tract or through intact human skin.
