June 17, 2007 - A plastic bottle recycling campaign, promoted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, provided the initial boost. Less than 6 percent of all plastics and less than one-fourth of all plastic bottles sold in the U.S. are recycled. Out in the community, recycling plastic is much more of a hassle.
