Disappearing birds could become an emergency

June 18, 2007 - It contains the grave of Thomas Davenport, the village's first settler, and last week at least, a lot of empty plastic bottles. Girls Scouts from the Haldane Elementary and Middle schools stepped around Revolutionary War-era graves on Thursday to collect the litter in honor of the 25th anniversary of New York's bottle bill. Five plastic bottles can make one recycled, fiber-filled ski jacket.
