Recycling hot, dry air to raise the temperature of new resin entering the drying hopper, the new Conair system has been shown to be far more energy efficient than conventional desiccant dryers when it comes to drying PET and other materials that require high-temperature drying for extended periods. After using a pilot EnergySmart system in a lengthy beta test, a major PET bottle producer estimated it could save half a million U.S. dollars (€362,000) per year in energy costs if their entire operation was converted to the new Conair drying system.
