CGW Series granulators feature exchangeable back plates that modify the cutting chamber from a super-tangential to a restricted tangential configuration. This means that the same granulator can handle the bulky thin-walled bottles, sheet and film that require tangential feeding, or heavy-wall parts and profiles and sprues/runners that are more suited to a straight-drop feed. This versatility allows processors to achieve maximum throughput and a more uniform regrind from a granulator that is smaller overall.
These granulators also have a large swing-away front-panel door that provides quick, easy access to the cutting chamber. The screen cradle and granulate catch bin are mounted on the door, in front of the rotor, not underneath, so they swing out of the way as the door is opened. This design reduces time needed for cleanout and material changeover, and simplifies access to the blades if maintenance is required.
CGW units have a 14-inch cutting circle and rotor widths of 18, 24, 36 inches. Maximum throughput is 1000 lb/hr. This unit comes with a 3-blade open rotor as standard, however, it is also available with an optional 5-blade open rotor for increased throughput capacity or to restrict the aggressiveness of the rotor action.
When set up in the super-tangential configuration, the CGW granulators have a huge, 17-inch feed opening, which can accept even the bulkiest scrap. Adding the restrictor plate to the back of the cutting chamber reduces the opening to 14 inches.
